Adhesives

UPVC cement P 917 is a specially formulated solvent based adhesive used for cementing & joining applications of pipes and pipe fittings made of Rigid PVC (U-PVC). It is a medium viscosity penetrating adhesive that is ideal for waterproof bonding and prevents leakage at extreme pressures. The brand meets the requirements of International Standards such as BS and ASTM. Product is suitable for use of PVC pipes and fittings up to 12 inches.

Direction For Use:

• It is recommended to use sandpaper to roughen the surface for improved adhesion.
• Thoroughly clean both surface ends with a cleaner and dry them using tissue paper.
• Stir Asmaco Fix cement well and apply an even layer of adhesive (a thin layer on the fitting and a thicker one on the pipe) in an axial direction with a brush. Assemble the parts within 4 minutes (at 23°C) without twisting, and hold them firmly for a few seconds.
• Wipe away any excess adhesive. The assembled joint should not be disturbed for 5 minutes (15 minutes if below 10°C).
• For best results, wait one hour before putting the pipe into use. Replace the cap tightly after use.
• After any welding work, the pipes should be filled with water, rinsed, and flushed thoroughly before use.

Precautions:

• After applying the adhesive, bond both surfaces immediately after the solvent evaporates and before a skin forms on the surface.
• Remove excess adhesive for a better appearance.
• The use of a primer/cleaner is recommended for better adhesion.
• The surface bonding time will vary from 1 to 5 minutes depending on the ambient temperature.
